Father James “Buzz” Hall, affectionately known as “Father Buzz,” passed away at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to the El Paso community. He was a beloved figure known for his warm personality and unwavering commitment to helping others. Father Buzz was deeply involved in various community initiatives, particularly focusing on education and workforce development. One of his notable contributions was his work with Project ARRIBA (Advanced Retraining and Redevelopment Initiative in Border Areas). He served as a director from 1998 to 2014. Upon his retirement from our board he was voted unanimously as a Director Emeritus to Project ARRIBA. Our organization provides education and job training to low-income individuals in the El Paso area, helping them secure better employment opportunities and improve their quality of life. Father Buzz’s dedication to Project ARRIBA was instrumental in its success, and his efforts have left a lasting legacy in the community.

In addition to his work with Project ARRIBA, Father Buzz was also a co-founder of the El Paso Interreligious Sponsoring Organization (EPISO). Through EPISO, Father Buzz worked tirelessly to advocate for the poor, migrants, and residents of colonias, ensuring their voices were heard and their needs addressed.
