Shane Mercer is a native of Sweetwater, Texas and a proud 5th generation West-Texan. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2005. Upon graduation from West Point, Shane was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and stationed at Fort Bliss, TX. As an army officer, Shane served in leadership positions throughout numerous organizations and commanded several units across multiple theaters of operations.
After his career in active-duty service, Shane has worked in multiple business development and management roles across the engineering, life sciences, and real estate industries and is a Vice President for Hunt Communities. He remains committed to public service and is heavily involved in the El Paso community. In addition to Project ARRIBA, Shane serves numerous community and business organizations to include the Board of Trustees of Las Palmas Del Sol Health (HCA) and on the Board of Directors of the El Paso Holocaust Museum. He formerly served multiple terms on the City of El Paso’s Historic Landmark Commission and Capital Improvement Advisory Committee.
Shane and his wife, Scarlett, reside in El Paso with their two sons, Zollie and Leo. Together, they embrace life in El Paso and appreciate the richness, diversity, and community spirit of the border region. Shane and his family are members of Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church and are actively involved in the church’s ministries in El Paso.
