Ysela HaydenPhysical Therapy Assistant
Ysela Hayden, a 29-year-old single mother of two, came to Project ARRIBA in 2012. At the time, she was separated from her husband and had been on her own for a few years. She wanted a better life for her kids and enrolled and was accepted into the Physical Therapy Assistant program at El Paso Community College. However, Ysela was unemployed and her only income came from child support, food stamps, and some assistance from her family. She was no longer eligible for financial aid as she had exceeded her credit hours and with limited income, could not pay for her college tuition. Through Project ARRIBA’s support, Ysela completed her training May 2013. She is working at Action Care Pediatric Therapy earning $39.43 an hour. Ysela is now able to provide for herself and her family and is contributing to El Paso’s economy.
