Aldo De La Cruz
Aldo De La Cruz

Aldo De La Cruz, born in El Paso, TX, and raised in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, embarked on a remarkable journey. His educational path led him to Mexico until he graduated from high school. Upon enrolling at EPCC, Aldo joined Project ARRIBA with a fervent aspiration: to become a registered nurse. Simultaneously, he worked as a caregiver for the elderly, finding fulfillment in his role. His mother provided a steady presence, especially after the loss of his father in 2015.

In the summer of 2018, Aldo secured a spot in the RN program. However, financial aid remained elusive. It was then that Project ARRIBA stepped in, offering crucial assistance. Despite facing hurdles, Aldo’s determination propelled him toward graduation. In May 2021, he completed the program, and by July 2021, he accepted a position in the Geriatric GI department at UMC.

Life continued to unfold for Aldo. He married and achieved the dream of homeownership. To this day, he remains dedicated to UMC, now serving as a Charge Nurse in the Med Surg unit—a role he thoroughly enjoys.

Every single time I was in need, there was somebody to give me a hand. In nursing school, that hand was Project ARRIBA. Don’t give up, you will find a hand.
